Sen. Roger Marshall
Kansas (Republican)
Summary
118th Congress Sen. Marshall has stood up against the extremist nominees of the pro-abortion Biden-Harris administration and against pro-abortion action both in the administration and through legislation advanced by Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. Sen. Marshall has voted consistently to defend the lives of the unborn and infants. This includes stopping hard-earned tax dollars from paying for abortion, including abortion travel expenses, whether domestically or internationally, and pushing back on the administration’s extreme executive actions on abortion.
Sen. Marshall introduced S. 2089, "to amend title 40, United States Code, to prohibit the Administrator of General Services from constructing or acquiring public buildings or entering into leases based on the legality or availability of abortion, and for other purposes" in response to the Department of Defense's decision to move Space Command from Alabama to Colorado. Sen. Marshall spoke multiple times on the Senate floor opposing the Department of Defense’s illegal and immoral abortion travel policy. He gave a speech on the Senate floor about the 2023 March for Life and emphasized the need to defend conscience protections for pro-life Americans and stop taxpayer funding of abortion.
Sen. Marshall blocked a Democratic bill on the Senate floor that would use taxpayer dollars to fund a direct pipeline of more abortionists across the nation and award grants or contracts to entities for the purposes of expanding and supporting abortion training. In a Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions hearing, Sen. Marshall pressed a witness who is an abortionist to explain how in her practice she can abort one baby and fight to save the life of a wanted baby at the same gestational age. In the same hearing, he brought attention to the risks that abortion drugs pose to women. He introduced a Congressional Review Act (CRA) to overturn a Biden-Harris Health and Human Services ruling that redefines “sex discrimination” in health programs like Medicaid and Medicare, potentially forcing pro-life Americans to provide abortion procedures.
117th CongressSenator Marshall has stood up against extremist nominees of the pro-abortion Biden-Harris administration, against pro-abortion action both in the administration and through legislation advanced by Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. Sen. Marshall has voted consistently to defend the lives of the unborn and infants. This includes stopping hard-earned tax dollars from paying for abortion, whether domestically or internationally, and protecting health care provider rights for those who refuse to engage in brutal abortions.
Senator Marshall introduced an amendment to H.R. 1319, the American Rescue Plan Act, that would prohibit abortion businesses from receiving forgivable loans through the Paycheck Protection Program, and he introduced an amendment to H.R. 1799, the PPP Expansion Act, to prohibit Planned Parenthood from receiving loans. He also authored the Ultrasound Informed Consent Act and sponsored the Abortion Providers Loan Elimination Act. Sen. Marshall exposed HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra’s role in advocating the rollback of longstanding FDA safety regulations on abortion drugs, highlighted the harms of chemical abortion during a hearing with Biden nominee for FDA Commissioner, and pressed Biden FDA officials on the risks of weakening safety protocols for these dangerous drugs. Sen. Marshall gave speeches defending life during a Senate press conference and colloquy on the eve of the Dobbs v. JWHO Supreme Court case. He then gave remarks at a Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions hearing on the impact of its overturning of Roe v. Wade. Sen. Marshall spoke at a press conference denouncing the Women's Health Protection Act (better described as the Abortion on Demand Until Birth Act) and, when Senator Schumer forced a second vote on this extreme bill, he forcefully opposed the legislation. The Supreme Court's ruling in Dobbs gave the authority to enact limits on abortion to both state and federal lawmakers. Sen. Marshall is among a select group of courageous Members of Congress who quickly accepted their responsibility to protect unborn children nationally by cosponsoring the Protecting Pain-Capable Unborn Children from Late-Term Abortions Act in the fall of 2022.
