How Mary is Leaving a Lasting Pro-Life Legacy

Two women stand smiling in front of the White House, with the Washington Monument and Jefferson Memorial visible in the background on a sunny day, celebrating their Pro-Life Legacy.

Marjorie Dannenfelser sat down with Mary Paula Zaytoun, a member of our Legacy of Life Society, to learn more about why she decided to leave a legacy gift.

Marjorie: What made you decide to leave a legacy gift?

Mary: Of all the things that I could invest in for the future, this is the one issue that matters most to me. Without life, nothing else stands. The future of our nation depends on young life, strong families, and moral clarity. That was it, I decided to invest in something bigger than myself.

Marjorie: How did you learn about and set up your legacy gift?

Mary: I read an article about the legacy program SBA started and immediately thought, “That’s perfect.” I had been looking for a way to plan beyond my lifetime. It gave me the opportunity to prepare intentionally. I’ve divided my gift into 4 parts, and Petrina, Director of Planned Giving, helped with that.

Marjorie: What’s the importance of Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI)?

Mary: That’s my favorite program at SBA! I remember the first time I was visited by Chuck, CLI’s former president. I firmly believe in this mission, and I understand why we fight – but many people don’t. What struck me was the research, the science behind life. It helped me see how important it is to educate both the public and our legislators.  Charlotte Lozier Institute does a brilliant job of leading this effort. People want facts, and CLI provides credible, impactful research. I was fascinated to learn how many people are involved in and influenced by CLI’s work.

Marjorie: What would you tell someone considering a legacy gift?

Mary: This fight isn’t going away, which is exactly why a legacy plan matters. By including Charlotte Lozier Institute in my will, I have peace knowing the financial support will be there so the work can continue. It’s the lives of unborn children at stake.

Mary Paula’s legacy is really about one thing – saving the lives of little boys and girls intended for this world, because they can never be replaced. We must be prepared to save them and to serve their mothers always. By joining the Legacy of Life Society, you can help us plan for the future by making sure we have the resources necessary to fight for the unborn and their mothers.
