Nation’s #1 Abortion Business Under Investigation for Sale of Babies’ Body Parts for Profit
Washington, D.C. – The Justice Department yesterday confirmed they are formally investigating Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business, for its role in the harvest and sale of aborted babies’ body parts for profit. In response, the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) released the following statement:
“The Justice Department’s investigation of Planned Parenthood is a major turning point in the battle to hold the nation’s largest abortion business accountable,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Evidence shows Planned Parenthood sought to squeeze every last opportunity for cash from the sale of hearts, brains, lungs, and livers of aborted children. This abortion chain has for too long enjoyed government favor under the Obama Administration. That ends now. We thank the Trump administration and DOJ for taking decisive action to launch a formal investigation. We anticipate that this investigation will only underscore the urgent need to redirect half a billion dollars in annual taxpayer funding away from the abortion giant and we hope to see Congress to deliver on this core promise soon.”
Planned Parenthood controls more than 35 percent of the national market for abortions and is not a significant provider of medical care in the United States. According to its most recent annual report, it performed 328,348 abortions in a single year, and nearly one million over the past three years.
President Trump has made four specific commitments to the pro-life movement, including reallocating Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding to comprehensive, whole-woman health care centers.
