56 Percent of North Dakotans, Including Strong Majorities of Women and Independents, Want Judge Kavanaugh Confirmed
Washington, D.C. – In response to news that Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) will oppose the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) released the following statement:
“Heidi Heitkamp’s decision to vote against Judge Kavanaugh is a profound betrayal that North Dakota voters will remember at the ballot box in November,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Instead of standing with North Dakotans – who showed their trust in President Trump to nominate Supreme Court justices when they elected him by a 36-point margin – Heitkamp caved to pressure from Chuck Schumer, Dianne Feinstein and the radical abortion lobby to block this exceptionally qualified nominee.
“SBA List’s field team will be active in North Dakota through Election Day reaching out to pro-life voters who don’t always get to the polls to educate them about Heitkamp’s extreme record. On top of her vote earlier this year to keep abortion legal through all nine months of pregnancy, which she and Chuck Schumer celebrated with a high-five, this is the last straw. North Dakotans deserve better than ‘High-five Heidi.’”
New polling from Public Opinion Strategies and commissioned by Judicial Crisis Network shows 56 percent of North Dakota voters want Judge Brett Kavanaugh confirmed, including 51 percent of Independents and 50 percent of women.
SBA List announced today its field team has visited the homes of two million voters across the battleground states of North Dakota, Indiana, Ohio, Florida, Missouri, West Virginia, and Montana ahead of Election Day 2018 to educate them on their senator’s record and the importance of voting pro-life.
Previously the SBA List team held press conferences outside of Sen. Heitkamp’s offices in Bismarck and Fargo urging Heitkamp to respect the will of North Dakota voters by supporting President Trump’s nominee.
