SBA List President Joins Leader McCarthy & the Family of Micah Pickering for Announcement
Washington, D.C. – Tomorrow morning, Tuesday, September 26 at 11:30 A.M., House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-SC) will hold a press conference with pro-life Members of Congress to announce an upcoming vote on the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) will join Leader McCarthy, Chairman Diane Black (TN-06), Rep. Trent Franks (AZ-08), Rep. Vicky Hartzler (MO-04), Rep. Chris Smith (NJ-04), and the family of Micah Pickering to speak in support of legislation to protect unborn children after five months – more than halfway through pregnancy, when science shows they can feel pain. Micah Pickering is a five year old boy who was born at twenty weeks.
“The United States is a global outlier when it comes to our extreme, permissive abortion laws,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “We are one of only seven nations in the world that allow children in the womb to be killed for any reason up until the moment of birth, putting us in the company of China and North Korea. Twenty states have passed their own legislation to protect babies at five months, and polls consistently show that a large majority of Americans – women in higher numbers than men – support bringing our laws into line with basic human decency. We are grateful to Leader McCarthy for advancing a vote on this compassionate, popular bill that would protect children like Micah.”
