PRO-LIFE COALITION CALLS FOR ‘VIGILS FOR VICTIMS’ AT PLANNED PARENTHOOD CLINICS NATIONWIDE

Exposed Planned Parenthood Coalition to Hold Valentine’s Day Prayer Vigils for Victims of Sex Trafficking

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today the Expose Planned Parenthood coalition, led by the Susan B. Anthony List and Live Action, called for Valentine’s Day, Monday, February 14, to be a grassroots “Vigil for Victims” day in which activists convene at Planned Parenthood clinics across the country to pray for the victims of sex trafficking.  The announcement comes a day after SBA List and Live Action held a press conference urging Congress to pass the “Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act” and marks the coalition’s latest grassroots mobilization effort to defund Planned Parenthood of the hundreds of millions of tax dollars it receives annually.

Coalition member David Bereit, National Director of 40 Days for Life, is organizing the national “Vigil for Victims” campaign in which one-hour vigils will take place from 12pm to 1pm in each time zone in the public right-of-way outside of Planned Parenthood clinics across the country.  More information about joining or organizing local prayer vigils is available at www.ExposePlannedParenthood.com/vigil.

Several Expose Planned Parenthood coalition group leaders, including SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser, Live Action President Lila Rose, 40 Days for Life National Director David Bereit, Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins, Concerned Women for America President Wendy Wright and Family Research Council Senior Vice President Tom McClusky, will attend the vigil being held at the Planned Parenthood clinic at 1108 16th Street NW, Washington, DC 20036.

“Planned Parenthood must be held accountable for its willingness to aid and abet underage sex trafficking,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser.  “The 27 organizations in the Expose Planned Parenthood coalition call for Monday to be a nationwide day of prayer and support for the victims of underage sex trafficking.  The horrors shown in the recent videos clearly show that Planned Parenthood clinics are not safe places for women and young girls.  On Monday, we will gather together in prayerful support of victims of Planned Parenthood’s harmful actions.  We will also call on Congress to defund the organization of the hundreds of millions of tax dollars it receives each year.”

“The national media has been abuzz with the shocking story of the undercover sting operation that caught abortion giant Planned Parenthood red-handed in the despicable act of aiding and abetting sex trafficking and prostitution of girls as young as 14,” said 40 Days for Life National Director David Bereit.  “The institution-wide scandal has now reached the highest levels at Planned Parenthood, with top executives making the appalling claim that their workers who were caught on video facilitating underage sex slavery ‘responded professionally.’  And, if that wasn’t enough, now Planned Parenthood is attempting to hijack Valentine’s Day as a marketing gimmick to expand its harmful agenda.  It is vital for us to take a public stand against Planned Parenthood’s harmful agenda – raising awareness in the communities where we live, and calling upon Congress to immediately strip the abortion chain of all tax funding.  Enough is enough.”

The Susan B. Anthony List spent $11 million during the 2010 midterm election cycle. Overall, the SBA List was involved in 90 races including 62 wins and 28 losses. Successes included: defeating 15 of 20 so-called “pro-life” Democrats who voted for abortion funding in the health care reform bill; increasing the number of pro-life women in the House by 70 percent; filling the void of pro-life women in the U.S. Senate and increasing the number of pro-life women governors from one to four.
