SBA List’s Team of 110+ Has Visited Nearly 170,000 Homes in Statewide Canvassing Effort to Expose Brown’s Abortion Extremism

Washington, D.C.  – The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) today congratulated Congressman Jim Renacci on winning the Republican primary for U.S. Senate in Ohio. Renacci will face Senator Sherrod Brown in the general election.

“We congratulate Rep. Renacci on his victory and are encouraged that a strong pro-life candidate will take on Senator Brown this November,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Brown is an extremist who supports abortion on demand up to the moment of birth, a position that is dramatically out of step with his constituents. He even voted against popular legislation to limit late-term abortion after five months of pregnancy.

“SBA List’s field team has spent months visiting voters at their homes, educating them about Brown’s extreme record and the importance of this election for unborn children and their mothers. We will be on the ground every day until the election, reaching out to pro-life voters who don’t always get to the polls, as well as persuadable Democrats, Independents, and Hispanic voters. Brown has betrayed his constituents, and he will be held accountable at the ballot box.”

SBA List has more than 110 pro-life canvassers in Ohio and announced today its field team has visited nearly 170,000 homes to educate and mobilize voters for the 2018 midterm election. Overall this cycle SBA List canvassers have visited more than 800,000 homes across the battleground states of Ohio, Indiana Florida, and Missouri as part of a historic GOTV effort to reach two million homes by Election Day.

SBA List also launched browntooextreme.com and a hard-hitting digital ad campaign to expose Sen. Brown’s extremist views on abortion immediately following his vote against the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (“Micah’s Law”), which would protect unborn children from late-term abortion after five months of pregnancy.

Polling data commissioned by SBA List and made widely available last fall shows that 67 percent of Ohio voters support the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and 56 percent said they would be less likely to support Senator Brown if he voted to allow late-term abortion.

Support for the legislation is especially high among millennials (78 percent), African-Americans (70 percent), and Hispanics (57 percent). Several national polls have found that as many as 51 percent of Democrats support limiting abortion after twenty weeks.

President Trump has made four key commitments to the pro-life movement, including signing the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act into law.

Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, visiting more than 1.1 million homes in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. SBA List is a network of more than 630,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
