WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, a national pro-life political action committee, announced its endorsement of former U.S. Representative Bobby Schilling for Illinois’ 17th congressional district.
“During his previous time in Washington, Congressman Schilling was a champion for unborn children, women, and pro-life taxpayers in Illinois and across the country. We are proud to endorse his campaign and send him back to Congress to replace Cheri Bustos,” said SBA List Candidate Fund President Marjorie Dannenfelser.
“Rep. Bustos’ extreme pro-abortion views have earned her the endorsement of EMILY’s List and the support of America’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood. While in office, Rep. Bustos refused to support a compassionate, common ground limit on abortion after 20 weeks – more than halfway through pregnancy. Last month, Bustos refused to state her position on common sense parental notification laws. Her loyalty lies with the abortion lobby, not Illinois voters.”
Bobby Schilling is an Illinois native and owner of Saint Giuseppe’s Heavenly Pizza in Moline, Illinois. In 2012, he defeated pro-abortion incumbent Congressman Phil Hare. Rep. Schilling consistently opposed taxpayer funding of abortion and fought taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood. His opponent Rep. Cheri Bustos has been endorsed by EMILY’s List and holds a 0% rating with the National Right to Life Committee.
Schilling and Bustos will face off in the November 4, 2014 general election.
