Washington, D.C. The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) today slammed comments about abortion made by Alabama State Representative John Rogers, a Democrat, as well as attempts by Planned Parenthood and pro-abortion Democrats to distance themselves from his remarks.

“Americans are justly outraged by John Rogers’ vile comments, but we should be no less outraged by the reality that abortion kills children,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business, violently ends the lives of more than 332,000 unborn children each year and receives half a billion dollars a year in taxpayer funding. Furthermore, ‘Kill them now or kill them later’ sums up the extreme agenda of Democratic Party leaders who support abortion on demand through birth and won’t even protect babies who survive abortions from infanticide. Condemning the messenger and not the brutality of abortion is pure hypocrisy.”

Nearly 200 members of Congress have signed a discharge petition filed by House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) to hold a vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. House Democratic Party leaders have refused more than 35 requests by members to vote on the bill. If a majority of representatives sign the petition, it will force a vote by the full House.

Nationwide polling released by SBA List finds that 77 percent of voters support legislation to ensure that a baby who survives a failed abortion be given the same medical treatment as any other baby born prematurely at the same age (55 percent strongly support.)

President Donald Trump has consistently called out the Democratic Party for their support of late-term abortion and even infanticide, following efforts in New York and Virginia to legalize abortion on demand through birth.

SBA List is a network of more than 700,000 pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
