117th Congress (Current term)
Rep. Michelle Fischbach
MN-07 (Republican)
Rep. Michelle Fischbach
MN-07 (Republican)
Congresswoman Fischbach has stood up against the pro-abortion agenda of the Biden-Harris administration and Pelosi Democrats who are actively working to expand abortion access and abortion funding. Rep. Fischbach has voted consistently to defend the lives of the unborn and infants. This includes stopping hard-earned tax dollars from paying for abortion, whether domestically or internationally, and protecting health care provider rights for those who refuse to engage in brutal abortions.
Congresswoman Fischbach co-chairs the House Pro-Life Caucus. Rep. Fischbach requested unanimous consent for consideration of H.R. 18, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act, which would make the Hyde Amendment permanent, and spoke on the Floor in support of a procedural motion that would allow for a vote on H.R. 18. She offered an amendment in a Judiciary Committee markup to prevent late-term abortions on babies because of their ability to feel pain. She spoke at a roundtable with pro-life leaders to expose the abortion funding in H.R. 5376 (BBB), against the bill in Rules Committee because of its funding of abortion, and in defense of life during a Judiciary Committee hearing on the Texas Heartbeat Act. Rep. Fischbach co-led an appropriations request letter to retain longstanding pro-life protections and led letter opposing anti-life provisions in President Biden's FY2022 Budget. She also introduced H.R. 7719, the Unborn Protection Act, and H.R. 2619, the Protecting Life and Taxpayers Act. Additionally, she spoke outside the Supreme Court at the pro-life rally on the day of Dobbs oral arguments and gave a speech on the House Floor opposing the Women’s Health Protection Act (better described as the Abortion on Demand Until Birth Act), which would overturn federal and state pro-life laws. Rep. Fischbach co-led a bicameral letter to the FDA regarding alarmingly inaccurate prenatal genetic testing. She brought up for a vote a pro-life procedural motion to protect babies born alive after failed abortions. She participated in a pro-life special order on the House floor for the 49th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, and gave remarks at the House Republican press conference celebrating the Supreme Court's ruling in Dobbs v. JWHO, which overturned Roe v. Wade, and at a Judiciary Committee hearing on the impact of the Supreme Court's ruling in Dobbs. The Supreme Court's ruling in Dobbs gave the authority to enact limits on abortion to both state and federal lawmakers. Rep. Fischbach is among a select group of courageous Members of Congress who quickly accepted their responsibility to protect unborn children nationally by cosponsoring the Protecting Pain-Capable Unborn Children from Late-Term Abortions Act in the fall of 2022.
