WASHINGTON – Today the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, a national pro-life political action committee, announced their endorsement of Adam Kinzinger, candidate for U.S. House of Representatives in Illinois’ 11th district. Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund President Marjorie Dannenfelser commented on the endorsement:
“The Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund is proud to endorse Adam Kinzinger for Congress. He is an articulate and dedicated pro-life candidate—and we look forward to his victory over Representative Debbie Halvorson in November.
“Rep. Halvorson’s vote for pro-abortion healthcare reform was the final blow that capped off a short-lived career of promoting the false claim that somehow abortion liberates women. Debbie Halvorson failed miserably at representing the women of Illinois.”
Debbie Halvorson is one of the most ardent abortion-rights advocates, supporting abortion even up to the ninth month of pregnancy. In 2002, as an Illinois State Senator, Halvorson was one of just a handful of Senators to vote against the Induced Infant Liability Act. Then State Senator Barack Obama also voted against the bill, which would have provided medical treatment to newborns who had survived unsuccessful late-term abortions.
Adam Kinzinger won a five way Republican primary with 64% of the vote on February 2, 2010. In the general election, Kinzinger faces Rep. Debbie Halvorson, an abortion rights supporter who is endorsed by EMILY’s List.
Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund endorsements are promoted to the organization’s nationwide membership of over 280,000 Americans. The SBA List Candidate Fund endorses pro-life female candidates, as well as pro-life male candidates who run against female candidates in favor of abortion rights. In 2008, the SBA List Candidate Fund raised over $1 million.
The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of over 280,000 Americans, residing in all 50 states, dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics. Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.
