Washington, D.C. – Today Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America’s Candidate Fund announced its endorsement of Governor Kristi Noem (R-SD) for re-election.
“Governor Kristi Noem is a hero in the fight for unborn children and their mothers and the model of a pro-life governor,” said SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Noem has advanced one bold idea after another, such as the state’s first Unborn Child Advocate, to save as many lives as possible. She has led the charge to protect children with Down syndrome from lethal discrimination in the womb, stop dangerous mail-order abortion drugs, and more, and under her leadership South Dakota’s abortion rate hit a record low.
“Strong pro-life, pro-woman leaders like Gov. Noem are the abortion lobby’s worst nightmare and were instrumental in urging the Supreme Court to reconsider its unjust abortion precedents. Now as the Court finally seems poised to return the people’s right to protect women and children, Noem has an ambitious agenda to keep pro-life gains rolling in this great state. She has our enthusiastic support and deserves the vote of pro-life South Dakotans in the primary on June 7.”
Elected in 2018, Noem is the first woman to serve as governor of South Dakota. She has acted swiftly to protect life, proposing and signing into law permanent safeguards against mail-order abortion drugs and legislation to stop lethal discrimination abortions based on a Down syndrome screening. She also signed legislation to ensure that babies born alive after failed abortions receive medical care. In the wake of the leaked opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, Noem has called for a special session to address how South Dakota can continue to protect unborn children and support women and families.
Noem served in the South Dakota House of Representatives and in Congress, where she maintained a 100% pro-life voting record, firmly opposing late-term abortion and taxpayer-funded abortion. She lives on her ranch in rural Hamlin County with her husband Bryon and their children, Kassidy, Kennedy and Booker.
