Washington, D.C.  – Tonight, pro-life Governor Greg Abbott of Texas renewed his commitment to unborn babies and their mothers in his State-of-the-State address, raising awareness for the lives lost to abortion in Texas and calling for stronger laws to protect Texas’ most vulnerable.

SBA List State Policy Director Sue Liebel offered the following comment:

“We are energized by Governor Abbott’s strong pro-life leadership and thank him for all he has done to advance pro-life policies in Texas. Recipient of the SBA List 2016 Distinguished Leader Award, Governor Abbott is a proven leader for our cause who has signed 11 pro-life laws that save lives. We look forward to seeing more legislation in the state that will protect babies from lethal discrimination in the womb, as these children are under particular threat from the abortion industry. Texas is a pro-life state that rejects this modern-day eugenicist practice.

“In addition, we expect to see legislation put forward in Texas to provide safeguards for women who are at risk due to potential removal of federal safeguards for dangerous chemical abortion pills.”

SBA List is a network of 900,000 pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
