Today, 13 Republican women, led by longtime nurse Rep. Diane Black (R-TN), sent a letter to House GOP Leadership asking for conscience and religious liberty protections to be included in any continuing resolution that funds the government through FY 2013.
The letter said:
“As fellow Members of Congress committed to protecting the individual’s rights of conscience, we are writing to bring to your attention egregious violations of long-standing civil rights and religious freedoms by the current Administration. We respectfully request that you ensure that adequate protections for these fundamental liberties are codified in U.S. law as the Appropriations Committee drafts legislation to fund the federal government through the remainder of the current fiscal year, FY2013.”
Rep. John Fleming (R-LA), a physician and leader on conscience rights in the House, also led the letter with Rep. Diane Black.

The coalition has flooded Congress with e-mails and calls, demanding that conscience protections are included in must-pass legislation, and included a webcast last night featuring Rep. Diane Black & other pro-life leaders.
