Pro-life Coalition Urges Use of Reconciliation to Defund Planned Parenthood
Washington, D.C. – America’s largest abortion business, Planned Parenthood, announced today it would no longer accept money in exchange for body parts of aborted children. In response, Susan B. Anthony List president Marjorie Dannenfelser offered the following comment:
“Today’s announcement is a smokescreen by Planned Parenthood to veil the most important issues under public discussion. They destroy growing children in the womb, strategically crush their tiny bodies to extract livers, eyes, hearts, and brains, alter abortion procedures to increase their organ harvest, and even allow infants to be born alive, while frequently misleading women regarding the benefit of fetal tissue donation.
“Those horrors are unchanged and the congressional and state investigations into Planned Parenthood’s gruesome practices should not stop. We are encouraged by the commitments from the House and Senate leaders to use reconciliation to stop taxpayer funding of this abortion business. Those funds would be put to better use at comprehensive health care clinics that provide true women’s health care and do not provide abortion on-demand.”
Last week Susan B. Anthony List spearheaded a coalition letter signed by more than 35 national and state pro-life leaders urging Congress to defund Planned Parenthood through reconciliation.
An op-ed in Sunday’s Washington Times by Sen. Bill Cassidy and Dr. David Prentice of SBA List’s research arm the Charlotte Lozier Institute, exposes fetal tissue research as a sham.
Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, spent $16.71 million in the 2014 election cycle to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and elect pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office. The SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. The SBA List is a network of more than 365,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
SBA Pro-Life America's mission is to end abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders. Your secure gift today will help to advance a culture of life and protect unborn children and their mothers from abortion.
