SBA Pro-Life America Scorecard

Ossoff Amendment #2696 to H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act

06/30/2025
SBA position: Opposed

Obamacare codified the largest ever deviation from the Hyde amendment and the largest legislative expansion of abortion since Roe v. Wade. Democrats falsely claim that Hyde applies to Obamacare, but in reality, Democrats wrote Obamacare outside of the normal appropriations process in order to bypass Hyde. This means that any funding for Obamacare includes forced taxpayer funding of abortion coverage. This amendment to H.R. 1 would have continued this funding for healthcare plans that cover abortion without the inclusion of the critical Hyde protections. SBA Pro-Life America OPPOSED.
